The Orthodox Church is absolutely steeped in symbolism and meaning. The Divine Liturgy abounds in it. Nothing is ever empty or devoid of meaning, which echoes the never-ending depth of love. We find unlimited depth in everything, and the more we look, the more we find revealed. It really is beautiful.
Each item the priests wear is symbolic of something. The placement of the icons means something. The very art of iconography means something. The positioning of elements in the physical church has meaning. Every colour has meaning.
There are just so many layers, that one finds something new seemingly all the time. It’s by design, to mirror eternity.
