God is pure love. Pure goodness. To witness such splendid light when you are not ready for it or have not prepared for it would be worse than death. It would be like looking into the sun for eternity. In order to reveal himself to creation, God had to use other means. He had to reveal himself gently, through nature, conscience, prophetic messengers and ultimately through Jesus Christ. This is the only way he could have done it. Any other way of revelation would either not be good for us providentially, or would be forcing himself upon us, violating our free will, and God by his very nature, cannot violate our free will. Love does not impose itself. It allows the totally free choice to love back.
